Remote Tower Services (RTS)

Providing Air Traffic Control services independent of controller/operator location

Challenges/Solution

Many air navigation service providers are required by regulations to provide Air Traffic Services (ATS) at geographically remote, low movement airfields. Additionally, many airports experience significant fluctuations in air traffic volume in relation to factors such as seasons and special events; and while these fluctuations exist, the capital costs of providing ATS are constant. Additionally, as many ANSPs are faced with human resource shortages due to attrition and an ever-increasing demand on the air traffic network, industry must play an integral role in providing technology solutions that advance the current tower-centric method of operations.

Intelligent Video: An Enabler and Catalyst of Remote Tower Services

The Searidge Remote Tower Services (RTS) solution equips controllers with an advanced set of decision support tools that enable them to provide advisory or control services to aircraft and vehicles at geographically independent airfields. The customizable, scalable solution may include the Searidge ATC-Grade Video solution and/or the Searidge Intelligent Video platform IntelliDAR™ which offers an intuitive top-down view of the airfield. It integrates seamlessly with the Air Traffic Controllers' existing tools and equipment to offer a more robust, improved information toolkit which they can access to make quick, safety-critical decisions.

Taking into account the remote nature of some sites, the system is necessarily designed to accommodate for network, bandwidth and installation constraints as demonstrated by its ability to operate with wireless networks; employing state-of-the-art advanced bandwidth management techniques; and affording flexible sensor installation options such as installing on the side of buildings , glide-path-masts, existing posts and frangible masts; with the ultimate goal of minimizing our footprint on your airport's infrastructure, and thus minimizing the costs and time it takes to deploy.
